Engineer Access to Programming Functions on your Intruder Alarm

The European Standard for Intruder and Hold Up Alarms EN50131 states:

“Permission to gain access to functions of the intruder alarm system shall be restricted by the use of authorisation codes. Access at levels 3 and 4 shall be prevented until access has been permitted by a user with level 2 access.”

Level 2 users are the subscriber (“Customer”) and level 3 & 4 are engineering functions & system programming (“Alarm Company”).

What this means is, should you require Adept Security Systems Limited to attend site to Maintain; Repair or Reset your Intruder Alarm System, Adept Security Systems Ltd will require a suitable key holder that has a ‘System Fob’ and ‘Managers Code’ to the system. If any engineers call out occurs out of hours (17:00 – 08:30) the same provision above applies.

However EN50131 states:

“The owner of the intruder alarm system has the absolute authority over the intruder alarm system. This authority may be delegated to others”.

The above clause enables you as the customer to grant permission to Adept Security Systems Ltd to bypass customer sign on at level 2 and go straight to level 3.

The benefit of this empowerment is, should you require Adept Security Systems Ltd to attend site to Maintain; Repair or Reset your Intruder Alarm System, Adept Security Systems Ltd will not require a suitable key holder that has a ‘System Fob’ and ‘Managers Code’ to the system’
